CONNECTION

Tablescaping can become contagious. Friends who do not tablescape start to to seach out beautiful dishes which they had never noticed before. They begin to see beauty in what before was just someone’s castoff. Such was the case with these gorgeous Chinese pink plates which were gifted by a neighbor knowing I love dishes. Certainly her gift deepened our sense of Connection.

The design is fantastic – Asian- which called for my mom’s “so-old” teapot. The stack started with black chargers and then Bordello Pinheiro which are part of my earliest collection. The key to the composition, I believe, is the vase which I almost did not buy because it has a small chip. That would have been a tragedy! Filling it with pink flowers pulled the color of the plates to the other side, making a pleasing whole. The large leaves pick up the color in the Bordello Pinheiro chargers and give the arrangement width to balance the weight of the plate stack. I bought the stem of green leaves many years ago and use them often as a base of my arrangements. They are a staple.

Who would think a neighbor who does not really know me that well would KNOW that I would love these beauties and would set a table in her honor before she returned to her home up north? She was pleased. I was delighted!

What did this table speak? In this case, it was the dishes that spoke.  “Thank you for rescuing us by placing them in the hands of someone who would love and enjoy every bit of our beauty.”
