OUR HONORED GUESTS

One of the greatest joys I have experienced from sharing my tables is the unexpected reaction of meeting so many friends, even from around the world. I feel that I could get a plane ticket, fly to their location and sit at their tables feeling as if we had known each other for years. That is why I wanted a GUEST section on this site. I want to share my friends!

My new guest is my friend, Debbie Hill Allen whom I met through the site she originated, Tablescaping, The Art of Setting a Table. Her site is unique because she honors the contributors as much as the tables we set. She always welcomed my story about the books I have written and allowed me to post information about this site. Often, she will pick a picture of one of our posts and pair it with a chosen quote encouraging us to go beyond the table setting to find a deeper meaning. I encourage you to read her story and relish the pictures of her tables which exemplify beauty, heart, and depth. She has absolutely succeeded in establishing a place for all of us to grow! Her tables reflect her magnificent spirit!

DEBBIE HILL ALLEN

I was born in the small town of Yazoo City in the Mississippi, and my parents moved us to Louisiana when I was 4. My husband and I moved to Arkansas 32 years ago and have been in Fort Smith for 13 years. I have been a nurse for 40 years, a school nurse for 5 years and will be able to retire in a few years. I have 2 beautiful, grown children and an AMAZING 9-year-old Granddaughter who loves a fancy tablescape.

I discovered the art of tablescaping on Facebook sometime around 2017 and became a member of a group. Then I began, as most of us do, to collect as much as possible from Ebay, thrift stores and FBMP. There is a lot of satisfaction in buying nice things for less money! When I started, I owned 2 sets of china, 6 wine glasses with gold trim and mismatched everyday flatware. Eventually, I invested in a nice sterling sliver flatware set from Marketplace at a good price. Creating the tablescapes is so much fun! I’m not one to rearrange furniture and change my home décor very often, so this is a wonderful, creative outlet for me.

I started my own group in December 2019, Tablescaping – The Art of Dressing A Table. I really can’t tell you why I wanted to start my own except that it was a challenge. It took a while for the group to take off and get to where it is today.  We aren’t a tablescape group for everyone. We keep it fairly exclusive with our rules and admin staff staying on top of requests and posts. I get the most enjoyment from celebrating the beautiful tablescapes of our members. We celebrate a different tablescaper at least 3 times a week and provide competitions with great prizes. I have friends all over the world, and my life has been enriched by these talented and kind women and men. I thought of giving up the group several years ago, but God has placed wonderful people into my life to assist me. I am most thankful to Donna Jarnigan, my amazing co-admin who keeps me organized and works so hard for the group! Tammi, Lindsay, Dot, Mary, Maria, and Barbara are sensational admin staff who really keep the group true to our purpose. And last, but not least, I met our beautiful and inspiring Margaret Lang through tablescaping.

Our always honored guests
